Field Trip
Thank you to those parents who have volunteered to chaperone the field trip to the Lincoln Park Zoo on June 11th. If you are still interested in chaperoning and have level two clearance to volunteer please send me an email. If you have not sent in your child's permission slip and $6 fee, please do so by tomorrow. Please make sure to return all field trip permission slips and fees in a sealed envelope or Ziploc bag.
Writing
In class we have are finishing up our three little pigs fairy tale versions this week. The students are doing a great job and are really enjoying writing and illustrating these stories.
IB Unit
We've had a lot of fun exploring life cycles so far - we started with an in depth look at what is living or non-living and then focusing on what all living things need in order to stay alive. The kids had some great inquiry and questions surrounding that. We are doing our own investigation in class to observe the process of the cycle that living things go through. We "planted" some bean seeds in Ziploc bags and have been doing observations on them and writing about them in our plant journal. The kids have been really excited about this unit....please ask them about it at home - they are excited to share.
Book Fair
Our class is scheduled to attend the book fair on Thursday, June 6th at 9:45. I will send only those students who are going to make a purchase at this time. If your child will be making a purchase, please send them to school with the money they will permitted to spend at the book fair in a sealed envelope or Ziploc bag labeled with their name, room number, and what the money is intended to be used for. If you have any questions please let me know.
